Justin Bieber, we’re ready for some new music!!!!
It’s been nearly a year since the Biebs announced he was “retiring” from music, and although he’s repeatedly teased that he’s “back at it,” it’s been very quiet on the Bieber front. Even an acoustic album with Cody Simpson has yet to surface.
So should we be worried there’s some truth to that initial retirement talk? Just to be sure, we decided to one of the people closest to Justin, his mentor, Usher.
“I don’t know that I could say that he’s going to retire. I would most certainly not invest in any of that,” Usher told MTV News last week. “So don’t hold me being a part of that, especially being the person that has mentored him and being a positive support and light for him.”
Usher, who’s currently on his UR Experience World Tour, has been encouraging Justin to explore things outside of just singing and get back to his roots.
“I think that there is so much left for him to do as a musician; not just as an artist but as a musician,” Usher said. ” ‘Cause when I found him, he had a guitar in his hand — I want to see that.”
Justin has been plagued by legal issues in the past year, but Usher hopes the focus shifts back to the music in the new year.
“I think his imagination being locked through instruments is an incredible thing that hasn’t been unlocked yet,” he said. “Every time I’m with him I’m like, ‘Man, wheres your guitar? Let’s get on the drums.’ I even start playing the drums myself, just to further support like, ‘OK, not only am I asking you to pick up instruments, I’m playing them too.’ ”
